Making it Big

South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa CA expresses itself in dashing calligraphy

Amazingly, I've had two independent designers enlist me for the same project for the same client: that of creating the lettering for these attractive barricades using quotations written in a very freestyle calligraphy for South Coast Plaza, a very posh mall in southern California. These billboard sized barricades cover store fronts while one leasee leaves and another remodels and moves in. You can see the door in some of the context photos taken at the mall.

When asked to put together a show for the Delphic Games in South Korea, I thought of these beautiful boards and printed them out at a decent scale and length on my Epson printer (love those rolls of paper). Here's a little of what you'll see in southern California or South Korea.

That's me standing by the Mark Twain quote: To get the full value of joy, you must have someone to divide it with.
All barricade art created by John Coy except the Mark Twain which is by Mike Salisbury
