Brandlettering

When I first landed on the word "brandlettering" as a variant of "handlettering" I immediately fell in love with it. It described exactly what I do and resonated with my conceptual mind in the way that nothing since "commercial art" has. While the infatuation has passed as infatuations do, I kept coming back to it as an apt description of my work.

I
was already on a "branding" kick before brandlettering became part of my life, not particularly as part of the red hot marketing trend, but because of my interest in the wonderful, simple marks ranchers have made on their livestock for centuries (oh, okay...and as a play on words. I'm easily amused).

And in yet another bit of synchronicity, I discovered that a cowgirl in Australia is a "jilleroo". It was meant to be. I'd already had a branding iron made with my logo and had been imprinting anything that would burn, so I decided to become legit and trademarked "brandlettering".
I am officially branded.
